Education Benefits for U.S. Navy
“NAU has helped me pursue my goals!” – Michael Krallman, LT, U.S. Navy
Our goal is to see you succeed. NAU seeks out dedicated staff who understands military benefits to help you balance your education with your personal and professional responsibilities. NAU offers multiple transfer opportunities such as DANTES and SOC, in addition to benefits for U.S. Navy personnel, spouses, dependents, and retired veterans. Through flexible class scheduling, dedicated career advisors and quality programs, NAU strives to provide a caring and supportive learning environment to ensure your success as a student. Michael Krallman had always wanted to complete his bachelor's degree, but always found an excuse to put it off. When Michael was asked about his motivation and choosing NAU he states, “I have always wanted to continue my degree program and complete my B.S. My motivation comes from my wife, who has her master's degree, and my daughter who is 4. I kept thinking, “I don't need a degree, I'm already an Officer in the Navy.” As I get closer to retirement I realize that although I have years of experience, I need to finish my college degree to be competitive in the civilian job market. My choosing NAU was again Navy related. A Navy buddy from years ago that I kept in touch with happened to work at NAU and she knew I had been putting off college for a long time. She was the push I needed, someone I trusted to help guide me through the process if getting started. The NAU staff has been nothing short of amazing. I have never seen this kind of support for new students! Great staff at NAU Lewisville. I am thinking about retiring from the Navy in the next few years. I have many years of management/HR experience and I plan to use my degree to help me transition in to the civilian workforce. NAU has helped me pursue my goals!

Transfer your years of military experience into college credit.
National American University offers services to meet your unique needs by offering flexible class schedules, credit for life, work and military experience, and free military evaluations. You may be surprised at just how fast you can complete your studies. NAU arranges the quickest path to a degree and full credit for your military education by taking advantage of American Council on Education (ACE) credit assessment services. ACE continuously evaluates military schools, correspondence courses and occupations to determine the amount and level of academic credit each should be awarded. Through ACE credits, you may earn academic credit for most of the training you have received, including basic training, and you can reduce the time required and cost for your studies. Joint Services Transcript (JST) is an academically accepted document approved by ACE to validate a service member's military occupational experience and training along with the corresponding ACE college credit recommendations. The Navy is now producing a Joint Services Transcript that can be accessed by all Active Duty, Reserves and Veterans.
A student may obtain up to 50 percent of the required credit hours toward graduation from non-traditional methods including:
a. experiential learning/portfolio credit awarded by National American University,
b. evaluated corporate training certificates, and
c. non-transcripted military training.
National American University offers College Level Examination Program (CLEP) for credit in a number of courses. Students may earn credit hours as indicated but no grades.
