Checking the Status of your USCIS Application Online
The four USCIS service centers
located in Nebraska, Vermont, California, and Texas are very
busy centers and extremely difficult to contact by phone. If
you have submitted an application to one of these centers,
you can now check the status of your application online at: https://egov.immigration.gov/graphics/cris/jsps/caseStat.jsp
You
will need your USCIS receipt notice with the receipt number
indicated in the top left-hand corner of the notice. If
applying to the Nebraska Service Center, the receipt number will
start with LIN followed by numbers. By entering your receipt
number, you will be able to access information on your application
as if you received it by phone. Information is updated
daily. However, if you need to speak to a service center
representative, you will need to call the phone number listed
on your receipt notice.
The online system will be helpful to
students who have submitted applications for Optional Practical
Training, change of status, or replacement of I-94 card to
name a few. Any application
filed with the USCIS district offices (such as a reinstatement
application) will not be available on this system.
If you have any questions, please contact the campus international
advisor or the system director for international admission.
