Students in some programs may be required to take online classes and attend classes at different locations.
Graduates of NAU’s paralegal studies programs are eligible to sit for the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) exam administered by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and receive the designation of "Certified Paralegal" or "CP". Graduates may also seek certification from the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) through the Paralegal CORE Competency Exam™ (PCCE™) exam.
A paralegal may not give legal advice, represent a client in court, or set fees. A paralegal is not an attorney. Some jurisdictions regulate the admission of individuals into the paralegal profession. A person convicted of a felony may not be able to serve as a paralegal in certain states. Please consult with your state’s judicial offices to determine the regulation of paralegals in your state.
“NAU is where you are going to find a sense of belonging, a sense of meaning, and sense of purpose. We have found this to be true, and we want to share that with you.”
