Self-Directed Learner Statement

Students enrolled in online courses at NAU's online applications development school will be expected to complete a significant portion of their course work independent of direct faculty supervision. Due to the nature of online learning, the instructor’s role will be that of a facilitator and guide. In that role, the instructor will provide the student with guidelines and learning activities, and will offer feedback and evaluation as the student proceeds with the course. Success depends upon the individual student’s self-motivation and ability to undertake independent study. Experience has shown that some students fail to realize the degree of effort and time that is required to successfully complete the course(s). Based upon the foregoing, NAU requires that students acknowledge their role as self-directed learners during the enrollment process.
