Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technician

NAU’s Associate of Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technician degree prepares you for a career in medical and scientific laboratories. The program includes courses in various clinical laboratory disciplines, as well as courses that emphasize on critical thinking, problem solving, and the life sciences. You will gain knowledge and practical skills to perform a variety of laboratory tasks in a student-centered and supportive learning environment.

Key Courses

The clinical laboratory courses include a classroom lecture component and laboratory activities conducted in a fully-equipped teaching laboratory. Students will complete their degree with a two-part internship at a clinical laboratory.

Program Disclaimers

The NAU Zona Rosa (Kansas City North) location has obtained accreditation through the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) http://www.naacls.org/. Program accreditation allows Medical Laboratory Technician program graduates to be eligible to take the certification examination offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) and achieve MLT (ASCP)CM certification.

Students enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technician program may complete certain courses at either the Zona Rosa (Kansas City North) campus or the Overland Park campus, but all students must complete the Major Core courses at the Zona Rosa (Kansas City North) campus.
