Rodeo - Rapid City Campus

The season is half way over for the Maverick Rodeo team in the Great Plains Region.  The National American University’s men’s team is in first place and the women’s team is sitting in the third position going into the second half of the season.

“I believe we definitely have the potential to be on top of the regional standings (at the end of the season),” Coach Glen Lammers said.  “There are a lot of variables in this sport.  We work hard on keeping our animals and our student athletes conditioned physically and mentally.  Our goal is definitely to peak at the College National Finals and if we do we will have reached our goal.”  The College National Finals Rodeo will be held in Casper, WY in June.

“In a nutshell, we have students who work well together, and that’s where our early success has come with our team this year,” he said.  He added, “winning is great but when we do not win we must figure out what we have to change to be successful next time.  A loss is an opportunity to learn.”

The team is also showing well in the national rankings individually and as a whole.
