National
American University provides a variety of student organizations.
Student activities are a very important part of the NAU experience.
Students are encouraged to become involved in the many student
organizations available on campus. These organizations are all
a part of our comprehensive approach to career and personal development. The Maverick Tales is produced and distributed twice a month by the NAU Student Success office.
- Meets regularly to
assist the administrative council in addressing student issues.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to visit with the
president and the council to make recommendations and implement
new ideas for campus improvement. Members are selected from the
student body by the administration.
- Student government involves students
with campus activities, introduces students to new people and
is an excellent reference for post graduate employment. Activities
include: NAU fun nights, dances, weekly meetings and other
campus events.
- Students
are hired for these positions. Ambassadors administer the care-package
program and the mentor program. Activities include watermelon
feeds, ice cream socials, and mentor/mentee programs.
Ambassadors participate in quarterly awards ceremonies and assist
with campus tours.
- The
purpose is to promote fellowship among students with a professional
interest in today's computer-oriented society. They strive to
perfect computer skills with friendly competition and interactive
training in computer, management, programming, and social activities.
This organization is open to all CIS/MIS majors.
Multi-cultural Student Organization (MSO) fosters
and promotes relationships and interaction between international
and American students throughout the exchange of ideas and cultural
events. This organization is open to all students.
Intramural activities are also available every quarter at National
American University. Students may choose from co-ed flag football,
softball, volleyball, golf, tennis, bowling, and many other activities.
- the
board's purpose is to choose and develop intramural and recreational
activities. The group also appropriates the intramural budget.
This organization is open to all students.
- PBL is the college equivalent of the
high school organization of FBLA, Future Business Leaders of
America. The purpose is to enhance the student's business education
by training them and providing experience in networking,
community service, professional behavior, professional development,
and competitive excellence. This organization is open to all
students. Group members attend state and national conventions and
competitions. PBL also attends seminars, the investment challenge
and university functions. Community service activities include
Adopt-A-Highway, fund-raisers for March of Dimes, Big Brothers
and Big Sisters, the Angel Tree and United Blood Service.
National American University Association
of Legal Assistants (NAUSALA) - the group attempts to establish
a positive relationship between the association, the members
of the legal assistant profession and the National Association
of Legal Assistants. NAUSALA is open to all students enrolled
in the paralegal studies program at NAU. The group provides
educational and social activities to enhance each student's
educational experience at NAU and promotes ethical and professional
conduct. Community service activities include Big Brothers
and Big Sisters, Bowlathon, Christmas Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Highway.
- the Rodeo Club promotes and provides activities
for rodeo athletes and supporters of the rodeo team. This organization
is open to all students. The club holds annual fund-raisers and
hosts the National American University rodeo and special
social events. Community service activities include educating
young people about rodeo.
- Open to all residents of
the College Inn Residence Hall. Elections are held for president,
vice president, secretary and treasurer. Committees are formal,
including social/activities, educational, food service and fundraising
to sponsor events in the residence hall. Special activities include
lobby pizza parties, snack nights during finals, guest speakers,
movie nights, and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Participation includes the children's Halloween Carnival and fundraisers for charities.
- The group promotes the veterinary technology
profession and educates the public on pet care. The group is
open to all veterinary majors. Activities include bake sales,
open houses, can collecting, t-shirt sales and trips. Community
service activities include nursing home visits, the Pet Walk,
and fundraisers for the local Humane Society.
