Skills and Characteristics of Human Resources Managers

HR Managers must be able to effectively hire new employees and act as a liaison of an organization’s management team to its employees. HR Managers also typically work with current employees to communicate company benefits and policies, handle workplace situations or issues that may arise, and are usually responsible for implementing and processing other important employee paperwork, such as pay raises and review scores.

Human Resources Career Options

And there are positions available too. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for HR managers is expected to grow 13% from 2012 to 2022. A HR Manager earns a median annual wage of nearly $100,000, making it not only a rewarding career but a well-paying one as well. For those looking for an entry level position before management, HR Specialists are expected to see an increase in jobs in the same period with an overall growth rate of 15.5% from 2012 to 2022. HR Specialists earn a median salary of $56,850. However, in order to become an HR manager or obtain a career in Human Resources, candidates must first get their B.S. from a degree program that specializes in HR.

Online Human Resources Degrees and Certificates

  • Human Resources Management Certificate: The certificate program prepares you for entry-level HR jobs. This online certificate consists of 31.5 credits.
